This is a pair of Atheran U-28-C's that I painted up to resemble the Santa Fe U-28-CG

Nice job on painting the engine! I have one very similar to that except in Great Northern Blue Sky livery. -Steve

Sky Blue was the SHORTEST scheme for GN too 1968-1970 I likes how you put the logo on the guardrails You make those? Got any extras? Edited by - microbusss on March 08 2014 6:11:17 PM

They came with the locomotives. The Geep is brass and came with it attached. The U-Boat is Athearn but it is a professional custom job that also came with the GN logo.

The GN logo panel on the handrails was once offered as a separate part by Athearn. I have some.

Yep very shortlived - early releases of the SDP40 and U33C came with them. I have one of each model unassembled with them. Irv decided it was cheaper to just letter the hood sides and did so beginning in the mid 1970's. Finding these units is pretty difficult. Larry

If anyone is interested, the Athearn part number for the GN logo boards is 34230. They came 6 to a package and were originally $3 for a pack; to the best of my knowledge.Randy
