My name is Chops124, and having grown up around Tyco in the 1970's, we burgeoning model railroaders were taught to eschew cheap, abundant, toy-like Tyco, Life Like, and Mantua (TML). So I dutifully ditched all my old TML and tried to pursue more "realistic endeavors," aspiring to make the pages of Model Railroader. Then some 30 years later a guy comes into the train club with a Tyco train set, and I am captivated by this brilliant white gondola with POTLATCH on its side and the flashing truss bridge and collection of Burma Shave signs, all in one set. The seeds of Tycomania were sewn. Little by little I found some odd Tyco piece and built a small layout; I swore I would keep it very limited, but the monster spawned forth and it is a 4x8 with a trolley track in the center and I am raking ebay for all manner of unique Tyco. Even my sister, across the country, has been infected and is now snapping up unusual TML pieces and sending them out to me. All I have to say is, "Woe to ye who enter here, and have a blast!"

Yes indeed. Looking forward to seeing your photos on the forum.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."
