For a time there was talk of a merger between the Mopac, the C&EI and the LC&P. The C&EI was formally merged with the Mopac but the LC&P remained independent.

During the merger period the Lincoln line was paid a visit by a Mopac executive special. The Illinois Central runs parallel to the LC&P in places and was successful in opposing the proposed merger.

Here are some more vintage images from one of the previous versions of the LC&P. Here we see a work train doing some gandy dancer repairs on what was known as the High Line.

I love that pan shot!!

And I'm so glad you have some steam, I was worried when I saw all those fancy streetcars in the first picture.

(Kidding, of course. That's a very nice color scheme on the hood units, I like the Cooper font too.)

That's a fun video. It's neat that you put the material to a story line and acted it out with the model trains. The crawlers, background music, etc. added great production values, too.

So you noticed the flexing bridge hey? I needed something flexible to connect the yard with the 4x8 table of the main layout and the main layout is actually on casters so a rigid connection was out of the question. As to the 250mph I cant confirm the number but when I was filming I had the camera running on the tripod and when I reached to make an adjustment I bumped the throttle on my trusty Tech 2 pack by accident....it was really hauling! I am really glad that you watched and shared it with your wife

Leave it that brown color, call it Denver and claim there's a forest fire in the Arapaho National Forest.

Nicely done city scene! I like the perspective with the RR yards backed by the skyline. The progression from foreground to buildings to backdrop is really effective.

As a part of the failed proposed Mopac, C&EI and LC&P merger, the LC&P has been granted a partnership with the Iron Mountain Southern line that was a subsidiary of the Mopac. Some pooling of motive power is now underway.

The rebuilding project for the LC&P has begun. This will be the floor to ceiling 5x9 wedding cake style layout that I proposed. First step involved removing existing display cases and relocating them to a new area.
Next came a patching and painting of the existing walls in a better basecoat of sky blue in preparation for the upcoming mural that will be a part of the walk-in environment of the new layout.

The new color unifies the two rooms that that LC&P occupies and the color was extended to the Peoria city scape of the yard area. Compare this to an earlier photo with a more extreme blue.

Another addition to the new environment is black-lighting for night scenes. This was inspired by the John Allen of G&D RR fame.

The engine house facilities at the South Peoria yards had recently been razed to make room for more through tracks. After some fidgeting a new smaller service facility has been installed on a new siding. This facility for basic diesel service will provide quick turnaround for the yard switcher at Peoria and for commuter train power.
