I remember seeing it on TV, but I never noticed the derailed drivers.

It picked a rail joint, they for whatever reason where known for that BUT, I have fixed the few I have by simply adjusting the first driver to have a slightly narrowed flange spacing.....BUT, not to much, just a few thousands of an inch will do!

I don't remember that, but it's pretty cool. I can't imagine a toy company devoting that much time to a train these days. One thing I remember is in the early 1950's, on the back of the Nabisco Shredded Wheat box there were railroad locomotives you could cut out and assemble. I remember a streamlined one. It would be a trip to come across one of those now. Maybe checking it out on the back of the box, while you munch away on the shredded wheat loaded up with several teaspoons of sugar from the sugar bowl no less.
