.....BEFORE Christmas has done some serious damage to my phone and internet.....I cut through a line, somewhere in about 50 places that could have been!!!! Reason for being out of touch.....

WHEN I find this, I'll get the line replaced, and be back... currently, I know that the phone will not work either from a temp. line ran from outside. the blade as it went through must have caused a short circuit and blew out the box on the side of the house comming from the pole....SO, the service provider will have to come to replace that as well.....I just got to figure out where to get the new line it, I may even run a whole new line as the one cut is pretty old......

When all is done, I will be back! (just like a bad penny, right?)

How much trackage were you laying around your house that cut into your underground line? Putting in a Garden Railway? Heh heh. Wondered why you had not been on much lately. Hope you get it fixed soon!

John, I have a nice quantity of 6 pair, direct burial underground telephone cable. If you can wait a little while; I can cut you off a hunk and ship it to you.

Maybe send me a PM with the details if you're interested (and if you get this).

Thanks guys......... I wasn't burryin' ANY wires! They........were in the wall of my shop or well somewhere close where I cut a new doorway through a wall to an un-used area that's 8 by 16!!!!!!! BUT, the catch was, the ceiling......its angled from the roof, but gave me a whole other wall to have to hang things on, PLUS, the floor, with some fitted "eve" cabinets.....That I made so......All come in handy........

As you see this message, new line was simply replaced as the service provider was here, today to install the new box on the outside of the house......I said ohhhh P*** on it, I'll run a new line....Cat-6 comes in handy not only for railroad work, but internet and phone lines!

Long story short, this house is old. 1800's stick built old. and the sub-flooring in the attic, was done, and then a tongue and grove top or "finish" floor was added, and then the walls went up. WELL they did this sometime in the 1950's it was re-finished and I've been adding some here and there.....BUT, turns out I probes the wall with a needle punch, to see if I could grab or hook wires on the other side where I was going to plunge the sawsall through to cut the finish rough opening for the doorway to this new un-used storage area.....I couldn't find no high power (120 AC wire, OR any low voltage, phone, Co-Ax, or Internet wires. So off to cut the wall with saw I went!

And..so did my internet, and phone!

Turns out the subfloor was shy of the finish floor, and the wires fell under it, and as I laid the new 3/4 plywood down, the opening this went into, could have been re-ran but, I pulled the loose end out, and did a junction, and ran a new line to the box that the service prodder came to install today.....

So, once again, as a bad penny..............I'm back!

Welcome back! We were about to form a search party here for you.
I have learned that nothing is ever simple in life. I too live in a typical New England farm house built in 1856. Several yrs. ago I wanted to remodel the " summer kitchen" Just get some shake in the box cabinets and new sink and counter, and done! I also wanted to change the grope and feel pull lights. simple enough! After pulling out the old cabinets, found the plaster and latt was crumbling, so down it came. I should have paid attention to the old adage that projects like this WILL take on a life of their own and when you open up walls you open a can of worms. And what a can o worms, live nob and tube wiring ( come charred ) aluminum wires, buried slice joints ( no junction boxes) etc. etc. Then there was the lead piping in the pluming, and don't get me started on the asbestos A $2,00 remodel ended up over 12.

can't wait to see pics. of your progress. My " office " is 10 x 16 and I am always looking for new ideas . stay well my friend.

Leo,
Yeah it was a can of turd LOL I was like WTH is next? LOL I can't imagine that can you opened!!!!

Its not much right now, a big more "spread out" mess but I will post some pictures......Been playin with/in the weather.....The snow has been fun with Buick.......And no, I don't mean terrible to drive in, but FUN......As it goes well in the bad weather, but has enough HP to do some fun stuffwith while the wife is beside me..... yeah I got a bit of a playing streak in the stuff! I enjoy winter for that very reason... and speed isn't in this whole fun time, its merely slippin' and slidin' around and speed isn't needed but power to get the car movin', is!

Glad you're back again, John! Starting to miss your New England-tinged posts. I've been having fun working on trains, at the shop and at home. I got dinged on the Home INspection for a refi on some deck stair railing and bathroom floor linoleum peeling up, so I have to fix those issues fairly quick. Ugh. At least that's all they found to complain about. I can handle that. Anyway, see ya around....

Americas banks have become soo greedy and sad. It's too bad that they got bailed out a while back. Wàshington should have let them go down the drain. Total incompetence & greed driving them. Don't ask, "how long can I stretch this loan out, ask yourself how quickly we can get these bank leaches off our back with payoff..
