I started collecting both Tyco and Lionel Trains no too long ago. Can I run those mid 70's Lionel on the Tyco tracks with Tyco transformer? I guess I'm able to but I wanted to ask.

Thanks,

Years ago I bought Motorcraft spark plugs for my big block Chevy 468... The girl at the parts store said, "those plugs are for a Ford!!" Rather than to laugh at her I kindly replied, my engine will never know the difference...

Kind of like the different brands of HO trains.

Only HO which wouldn't work would be vintage Marklin HO, and even new stuff, as that's 3-rail AC only. All other HO should work with each other, although some have what are called Pizza Cutter wheels, the flanges are SO deep, they won't run on most track out there. Fleischmann is an example, a european HO maker, the wheels on it are very deep on the flanges, and I'm not sure even Code 100 would let it run without hitting the ties. Never tried one, really. Anyway, Lionel HO is compatible with all the generic HO out there as far as track and power goes.
