"Great buy" on eBay and discovered . . .

. . . the tire was sliding off because it was split. Interesting that this insulated side of the drivers was insulated with what seems to be paper (saved and useable yet; I may try to solder the thing together just to see if I can get the locomotive to run?).

So . . . anyone have an extra set of Mantua drivers this size? Looks like about 14mm across the wheel?

Might be some other drivers that work as well, if the spokes match?

I'm not sure what I've got to trade?

Thanks,
Barry

Barry, they are very common because they were used on all of the switchers (end the 4-8-0 too, I believe). I have on old worn set I can send you for the cost of shipping.

I may take you up on that Nelson. I'm going out to the shed right now and try and solder that crack. We'll see how that goes. I only need the one without the gear. I think worn is probably fine. How would we do it? You give me a mailing address and I send you some money? Thanks Nelson. Barry

Yep, just PM me and we can work out the details.

That's the first time I've seen a split rim. Unless the split gets really wide, I think you could just put it back on with the insulator, make sure it's true and that there's no conductivity to the axle, then put some thin Zap CA on the inside of the tire and let it wick around the whole wheel. That should at least make it useable.
