Here are my two Bachmann tower kits. Both are custom. the gray one is painted with the stone fleck paint. The third bldg is a out of production kibri tower which took about 12 hrs to assemble. Those kibri tower kits are nice but have a ton of parts. If you purchase-be prepared to spend several days at a couple hrs a day assembling. The bachmann bldgs after painting only took about 2 hrs to assemble a piece.

Interesting idea on the fleck paint. How much of a texture does it leave? I bet it would be even more convincing if you were to mask an paint the decorative elements (capstones, scrolled masonry. etc) and sidewalls in contrasting colors. Not a criticism, just taking a great idea further ;)
The Kibri kit looks interesting. Why so many parts? Does it have individual floors and rooms and such?
No room on my layour for any such beasts, though. I have a Walthers Ford Auto Assembly kit I'm saving for the future, which could almost eat a 4x8 itself, if properly modeled...

Hey, Speaking of the Walthers "Ford Auto Assembly" kit, do you have the book Walthers published about the "auto industry and how to model your railroad with them"?
It's a thin, hard covered book. I bought one on Boxing Day... it's a great book. ISBN 0-941952-57-6 "America's Driving Force" Modeling Railroads and the Automotive Industry Wm. K. Walthers, Inc Just wondering.
John
p.s. And, nice buildings, Brian!
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

For those of you who might now be interested in painting your structures with the fleck stone paint---be very careful as this does not spray like regular paint. You can get a even surface with this paint-experiment on a piece of cardboard first if you have never used that kind of paint. It makes for interesting texture on structures and as far as scale appearance==fine on looks. The paint comes in many shades. The trade tower was painted with Krylon satin paint which is very low gloss if any. I bought my paint for these at Walmart. They were painted two years ago. The window frames were painted with Krylon flat black and i used gold and chromed mirror card stock(Available from Hobby Lobby) for the window backing.

The kibri kit has close to a 1,000 pcs. It is built like a real skyscraper-base-columns-have to be assembled. There are no one pc walls like the bachmann. it has a partial back wall but rest of kit is pieces. I glued the bldg using proweld plastic welder=liquid cement which dries in 10 seconds--highly recommnended. Just about all the shades above windows that you see in the picture have to be glued on also.
