Here is a Faller sawmill. The water wheel turns slowly and the saw blade inside oscillates up and down. What's interesting is that there are no gears anywhere. The motor for the water wheel is a synchronous motor that turns slowly. The saw blade uses an electro-magnet that pulls a sprung permanent magnet down, and that downward motion interrupts the power to the electromagnet so that the perm-mag springs up again (and repeats). Very clever.

Its in kit form, but I guess, I should say, this box, has 4 kits in it! 1 actual 3 stall roundhouse, 3 add-ons......Make a nice set up I do believe!

John, I think (my selfish interests of course) it would be fun to see this roundhouse at intervals during your construction of it. Barry

Barry, Ohh sure....I don't blame you for wanting to see that monster being built! (If I were you, I'd want to see it being built too!)
With the amount of that, I have, I'm not sure if its going to be that one, OR the other one, that I have, I just have not made up my mind, as I have 2 completely different ones to choose from.....With that said, it will be impressive as the posting says, I have 4 kits, to make a 12 stall 'house!!!!

I got this for $2.00 at a train show in Allentown, PA. I don't know which incarnation it is - It just says "Made in Taiwan R.O.C." on the bottom. I'll need to find graphics on the web to make new signs. Unfortunatelly "Finger Lickin" Good" isn't their slogan any more. Now it's just "SO GOOD". I'll also need to make the chicken bucket for the sign out front.
I always wanted one!

Not a building, but I also got this in a box of junk - Didn't know mice at plastic!

Justin, Life-Like doesn't make anything trains anymore, they sold out to Walthers.....AND Walthers doesn't make the KFC any more, PLUS, I don't think Life-Like when they made trains continued the KFC after I think 1995!
ALL of the Life-Like "Scenic" buildings and or the set buildings (I'm not sure what Life-Like called them), were not re-produced under the Walthers ownership, Walthers merely sold stock that was already produced as of their purchase of the company.

Rich, those mice may be partially blind... it's the lead in the paint that attracted them.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

I'm not certain if they are still in production but the kits are still available through Walthers. http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/433-1394

Tom, Yeah, they have not yet sold off the stock from the Life-Like purchase... That's why they are still on Walthers website for sale and in stock...
