Ok, thanks to most of you SoCal model railroaders, I went today to the Roundhouse along Victory Boulevard in Nor thHollywood after lunch today. From the outside, the place looked tiny, and the only thing denoting the trainstore's status was an LGB layout in the window. Going in, the place reeked of tobbaco fumes and was even smaller on the inside. Granted however, they had a lot of HO trains and cars in stock on the shelves, but the situation was a tad uncomfortable. Anyway, I bought from there an IHC SP 4-6-2 for about $98, which I have named Blossom. It is a nice place, but it's too far compared to the Train Shack and Whistle Stop and the claustrophobic environment ensures it'll purely be a one-time deal. If you guys have any more recommendations for trainstores I should visit, please reply below

ah so you bought the SP 4-6-2 Saw it there a couple weeks back. Still has a much larger "repeat customer" base then train shack does. You just gotta know them, know how they are and what they do to fully appreciate roundhouse. Could help that before I was born (being only 16) my parents would get my brother into trains and point is we've been dealing with them for over 20 years now. Internets got better prices, but it doesn't offer the great experiences and friendly nature that the Roundhouse has. Hope you will go back more then once. They have monthly raffle drawings for store credit. It's on the 27th if interested. lot of people show up and jam pack the small place...

Ah yes! The tobaco smell. Thatis how I know I have arrived at the Roundhouse. Heck even the boxes smell like it.

If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right.
