I'll start off the week with a car I made, I did the decals in MS word. The interesting thing on the gun decal is that I didn't get enough sealer on it. The ink ran a bit and made it look like the camoflaged rifle they sell. The other side has the same decals but I sealed the rifle so it is black.

eaglerock109, Its funny how screw ups can turn out so well at times, isn't it?
I like it, nice job! And it looks to be a TYCO box car to boot! (Is it?) The frame mounting tab hole is why I say I "looks" to be a TYCO car!

Rebuilt this Athearn bluebox CP boxcar. New frame, new couplers and coupler boxes, and new doors which I painted silver.

| Nice job with the decals. Would you elaborate a bit on how you did the decals (e.g., regular printer? decal paper?, etc.)? Thanks. Barry

Hi Barry, I used a Dell ink jet printer, the sealer is Krylon clear, the decal paper is from Vita-cal I bought from Walthers. The paper is clear on white background. The car was a glossy yellow, after applying the decals I sprayed the car with Krylon matte clear. The matte helps hide the shine of the clear decal film.

| Thanks for the how to on the decals eaglerock. I've been sitting on a nice set of decals (haven't applied decals since building model cars in the 1960's and I never felt like I did a good job then). So . . . I was thinking that would be cool to be able to print them at home; also to make the decals you need instead of buying something that really doesn't suit your needs, but it's "close". Do you think it's necessary to apply decals to a gloss finish. I've already dull coated most of my stuff. Do I need to remove that, or can I just make sure it's nice and clean? Thanks. Barry

Hey Barry, I'm a novice with the decals but I think applying them on a dull coated car would be OK. I'd re apply dull coat to help hide the decal film. Remeber to cut the decal paper as close to the image as possible, this also helps hide the excess decal film.

I didn't have a problem Ben. Must have been "operator error!"
