These would make interesting kit bashed models. I found these in Brownfield Texas on the West Texas and Lubbock RR. It is a slug and it's mother created from a pair of ex-Amtrak F40PH's Note the lack of fans on one and the modified nose on the other. The nose was modified for the addition of a front walkway. The same company that owns the SL&RG owns the WT&L.

| About 10 F40s got the nose job for a freight pilot; I wasn't aware any were made into road slugs though. They were originally done for an outfit that had the BAR and some ex-CN lines in Maine, who went broke.

I'm surprised they didn't make the slug the "front" or "Point" loco........Just because its got a cab, and has no prime mover would make it a silent ride......Which is normal practice anyway..........BUT it doesn't have the freight pilot which might be why they didn't.....
Interesting loco Mother and Slug set tho!
