Hi Sean ! following you up with a car I got on Saturday. ATT old time coach. I needed a complete one for my ATT train set that uses these cars. I needed a brown platform clip on end. So I put the complete car I got in the train set and put new stairs, platform, and MDC observation railing on the end missing the platform. I guess I made a Observation out of it. frank

The Frisco car is an old Varney car - the thick roofwalk, as well as the shape of the trucks, is a tipoff. Bowser re-issued them for a while so it might be a Bowser.
The caboose is obviously Silver Streak. I don't recall ever seeing a New Haven caboose with the name of the railroad spelled out on it's side. It's possible because the NH went through many paint schemes.

Finally sorting out some pictures, here's my COTW, an all-metal boxcar over wood frame. Not sure who made it?, but pretty cool, I thought. Found it at the Shenendoah, VA train show weekend before last.

Jerry I see that old international type hook and loop coupler sticking out. It dates your car to about 1960 or even earlier. it also says it is a globe. frank

Jerry, Any chance you can get a shot of that GN box car, showing the inside of the end, that's loose? I ask as I have a few metal cars similar to that and to know who made them, would be nice as they are old, and mine are complete, BUT don't have the couplers as yours does, mine have Kadee #4's on them (YES, Kadee #four type couplers) Which also have a straight coupler "glad-hand" hose, and a straight inner jaw on the coupler.....AND are bare metal, NOT the type that's got the blackened metal as we all see today! Plus a metal draft gear box, that has small nails in the side loops of the box, and lid to hold the coupler to the wooden floor underneath!
With that said, I'd like to figure out who made these cars, as I have not yet found anything on them to any pictures of cars similar to them, except that one you have pictured here....

Ken, THANKS! Sadly, those diagrams doesn't show the interior of the cars I have......See, alittle to explain what I have, they have brass ends of the box, tin box car sides, and a tin metal laminated roof, with separate roof ribs added in place. The only "wood" part on each of them, I have is the floor. The frame to these cars is VERY similar to that show in the diagram links you posted. BUT the ends of the car, had brass outside sections, to then have a tin metal mount inside that has a press fitted tabs to hold the roof, and the roof walk in place that also holds the floor to the car sides.
Any chance to have a 40 foot box car diagram from Red Ball?

| If you can post some pictures, someone on the board can probably ID the cars.

Jerry, well here it is Sunday again and soon someone will start this weeks COTW. I still like the Globe/ Athearn/ Menzies / Bowser, or what ever it is metal Great northern box Car. I like it for what it is. A silver box car ! It looks nice, and is a easy repair to get it back going again. It will make a great conversation pieces. Frank

The same cars were made by Athearn after they bought Globe.
