I heard about this show out in the beautiful mountains of Virginia just a few weeks ago, and decided to try to make it. Make it I DID, and wow, even though not a big show like Timonium, it was full of bargains for ME. First room was about the size of a gymnasium, and I made my way around it and spent maybe $20 at most. Picked up some Marx O gauge switches for $1 apiece, in great shape, some metal, some plastic. Then I spotted the cross-over to the OTHER room, and the fun began! I found 5 Bachmann Auto-train dome cars, $45 for all. Guy had a set of Bachmann Metroliner Amtrak with pantagraphs, 7 cars/powered/dummy unit total, $45. After that, I needed a trip to the car to unload my arms.
Went back, and at another table, a guy was selling custom detailed engines, and his prices were I got 2 Roundhouse Boxcabs, both powered, one with cleaners, one without, $20 each. He had a Roundhouse camelback logging type , $20. Had a small Hustler with what LOOKED like the Ernst drive in it, $20. A Euro small 30-ton pantograph-equipped electric alligator type, $20. He had a sweet Athearn chassis with old wooden combine car and a small boiler on the front, ran, for $20. All were customs or detailed , yet the pricing was phenomenal. I ran out of money at that point, and couldn't buy more, but he had Mantua, Tyco, and other older engines both Diesel and Steam for rock-bottom pricing. He had other rolling stock that was custom built with nice detailing for a pittance. I'll DEFINITELY have to go back next year and visit with him FIRST. Show was way away from any heavy human population, so while some prices were high, many were reasonable or below normal show standards. I haven't taken any pics yet of my buys, but will post them later ( when the wife ain't looking ). Overall a great day, a few of my club members were there as well.
I drove home on the 2-lane road, and hit one Flea market, and found a nice Mantua booster, WITH nice box, WITH nice instructions, WITH the parts kit, for $8.99. That came home with me as well. No one has touched it, still has flashing in the window frames of the cab. I'm thinking of polishing this one with a dremel and polishing compound, has anyone made one look like a chrome finish? How does pot-metal react to polishing? This one has the plastic chassis and steam chest, not metal. I think a brightly polished Booster would look neat. Thoughts?
anyway, just relaxing since I got home, got to clean up a lawn mower I got oil all over, as rain is coming the next couple days, don't want to mess up the environment or my back yard grass. Will add pictures later, or post them somewhere else.

Ok, I got a few pictures off my Iphone, NOT of the stuff I bought, but of stuff I found there from the custom guy, and some other stuff. Enjoy!

And here's the little Mantua Booster I found down the road at an antique/flea market.

Jerry ; I am a couple of months late looking at these pictures. Sorry !
That is one weird locomotive. You can see its guts are Lima. And the car in the second photo look like it should have gone behind that loco, loco.
Third photo excursion car look like a wood pickle car with the tanks removed. And that little black snow plow a very useful MOW car. This must be the MOW tray.
forth photo a over priced crane and a bath tub on wheels. HUMMMM! Very INTERESTING !
Photo Five, The unfinished gondola. I would have done it a little different.
Last the Mantua 0-4-0 is a good buy because of the box and paperwork. That original picture of of slanted front side tanks is hard to find.
Jerry, Great Pictures, Nice and clear. Thanks for sharing.
