For my 4-10-0 steamer, I'm using Mantua 0-4-0 drivers and wondering if I could use the frames and cut down and join to make a 5 axle frame. Only doing this so I can still use the 0-4-0 side rods. I got a bare 4-6-2 frame and I'll use the front and rear sections.

What John Allen used for his a Varney Reading 2-8-0 boiler, Mantua 50'' drivers and Varney Casey Jones cylinders. Nothing on what he used for the frame though. http://gdlines.com/GD_Galleries/Locomotives/slides/34alone.html

I'm using a Mantua boiler and it the drivers need to clear the fire box. I know Mantua made a 2-10-0, the rear most drivers sat and looks funny under the fire box!

I'll be very interested to hear what you come up with for the frame.
All I have tool wise is a drill press and a dremel. I've been wondering how I can make a frame myself. I like the idea of using Mantua drivers and bearings. I might just have to resort to brass, a mill file and lot's of elbow grease
Make sure to take pictures of the process.

I believe the 4-6-2 Pacific frame and the 0-4-0 shifter have a different wheel spacing. The Pacific uses a larger diameter wheel by default. Perhaps a 0-6-0 and 0-4-0 would work better together. Then the rods will match between them also.
