A few months back I bought a set of wireless minicams off of eBay. The cameras run off a 9V battery and transmit the A/V signal wirelessly to a receiver. The upside to this is that I can watch the video live as the train runs...the downside is a lower quality image compared to a camera that stores the video in memory for later viewing.

I finally got around to hooking the receiver up to the computer and throwing together a video. It's a little choppy and uploading it to youtube didn't help any I threw in some Killers music rather than listening to the camera-car's squeaky wheel

I like it! I used to put my digital camera sideways on the train like that too. You must have had more clearance on your layout than I did on my old one; the camera always took out multiple trees and an entire station platform if I wasn't paying attention I doubt the camera would fit through the tunnels on my new layout

Thanks! yeah I just put it on my old centerbeam. I'll make another one maybe tommorow of my newer layout but I'll have to go in the sidings and spurs so you can see everything.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.

Okay, this may be like the 10th time I've had to explain but alright.. That be my dads 65 VW bug, got it in Santa Monica in 2009 as a junker, in 2 years we fully restored it to the look of Herbie The Love Bug. We use it on the weekends but I have my bug, which is a 1972 to work on as my first car. My dad and I got it from a guy in Hollywood back in october. It's entirely stripped of everything externally so we can get it painted soon. I've been out there turning wrenches getting everything off, been a lot of fun. I always say I'd rather restore or work on my first car then just get one that's ready to run. Much like with my big HO collection, I always say I'd rather repair and restore engines then run them. My cars progressing as time permits, the engine's out and were rebuilding that little by little. Will be done in i'd say 4-5 months.

To get a cheap video camera. Hotwheels was selling one inside a car, originally $60, but they had them on sale for $24 at Wal-mart discounted a year ago. It does color, it stores it, you can download it to your PC. Must have good lighting, but otherwise it worked well,I put the car on a flatcar with sticky tape, and it took decent video with good lighting. I have the video posted on Youtube as Hotwheels Train cam or something like that. I posted this awhile back as well.
