Saw this on the Walthers TrainLine page...

It appears that Walthers is now the company that offers the 24-piece sign/utility pole set Tyco offered from the 1960s to the early 1990s! (It says the set includes 12 signs and 12 poles, but I doubt six of the signs have red lettering like Tyco's did.) I know Model Power and others also offer(ed) the same poles, but Walthers even went as far as offering the signs, except their bases are now also white instead of green.
Good to see even Walthers is keeping a bit of the Tyco line alive, too!

Wiley,
Yes that set certainly looks familiar. Back in 1973 my dad (God bless his sweet soul) bought me an HO Tyco Santa Fe freight train set from Sears. Those signs and a few more that had red lettering were included. Seems like yesterday.
I'm amazed that Walthers is selling these as, although they're not bad looking, they're not exactly prototypical either. But with some weathering, they can look pretty decent on a layout.
Be creative, share and enjoy the hobby :-)

| I've seen real examples of both of the crossing warning signs, the big giant X and the oval one, although they may be oversize in HO.

In fact, a real iron version of the big X will set you back around $400.
It's always interesting, though, those old model train dies and molds usually have about nine lives, either through owners going out of business and selling or through changes in who imports them.
