OK, I recently got myself a used Tyco 908 Operating Crossing Gate. It's the earlier version where the tab on the gate has to be attached to the small pole under the base and onto the gate itself, and with a removable track section. WELL, with the track removable, I decided to take advantage of that, and replace the brass track with a 9" nickel-silver Atlas Code-100 track section!
For some reason, the supplied section of brass track was ALSO made by Atlas. I'm guessing in the very early years of this accessory, it used Atlas track before switching to Tyco's own track, then eventually having the track built right onto the base (ala Life-Like's crossing gate.)

It's also worth of note that the base doesn't have those two holes you'd install crossbucks or whatever in. (The Life-Like version has/had that too, installing the Tyco-style crossbuck on one side and a small black "STOP" crossing sign on the other; their version of the Switchman also comes with two of those black "STOP" signs, and later versions also include one Tyco-style crossbuck.) I'm also considering modifying it once I have the cash and know-how, by motorizing the gate and adding flashing LEDs on the signal (and possibly the gate itself), and maybe even adding an electronic bell sound. However the gate does currently perform better than the later Tyco versions and the Bachmann and Life-Like versions as well!
