Great video, excellent script and narration. I now want to look for these at the next show. I had no idea one used a PT motor.
So you can use both billboards at the same time?
Thanks.

Nice video, Brian! My Chattanooga set from my childhood had one of those, and I acquired another when I bought some Tyco stuff off another kid for ten bucks, which was a great deal!

I know we have some electronics whizzes on this forum who can answer this: aren't those diodes on that little circuit board, arranged as a bridge rectifier?

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

Wow, those are pretty cool. Forgot all about those but I might have to keep my eyes peeled at the next local swap meet.

Just remember Lots of these DON'T have the Payday & Maxwell House billboards
Now sometimes you will find JUST the billboards at shows

I had the AC powered Bill Board Whistle when I was a youngster in the late 1970's, I remember that even to my child's ears this thing didn't sound much like a real steam locomotive whistle. (It sounds more like a wheezy coffee grinder actually). I don't recall using it on my layout very long either. The battery powered unit sounds far superior than the older unit and may even give the old Lionel whistles a run for their money on a sound comparison basis. Good video and very well done!
Proudly keeping Tyco Pluggers out of landfills since 2016

Even if it's not totally realistic-sounding, the AC billboard whistle still has that nice classic toy train sound, very much like the old Lionel air whistle tenders! (It's like bringing the Lionel sound to HO!)
I have one, but it takes a while for the whistle to get going, and there's noticeable motor noise. Any way I can fix this so I mostly just have the whistle sound?

no way to fix Wiley unless you get another - once opened -which is not easy to do - about 100 percent of the time - they will never work again as air chamber is sealed during manufacturing process

Cool Tyco accessory. My video from this morning before I went to work.

Sounds a bit believable.

I made slight changes to the accessory.

I used the Hershey chocolate wrapper.

Different DC heroes.

Cut the wrapper to fit with the accessory.

No Marvel heroes seen yet.

My photos from today in the sunlight.

Looks better than my previous indoor photos. Candy bars should be available at local 7 eleven stores.
