I went to my Mom's boyfriend's house today to look through his train stuff today and I took a few pictures of some of his stuff. His daughter paid 400 dollars for some totes full from a friend and he spent 125 at a "yard sale" store... and that is literally the only money he spent on this stuff.

So most of this stuff is sealed and he also has a plastic drawer tower full of wires and motor parts and people and layout scenery stuff like trees and lichen and all kinds of stuff. For 525 bucks!!! Everything in the totes is still sealed in the box!!
And this is his neighbors layouts:

Can I come over and play?
That Proto 2000 stuff is high quality. Even the Proto 1000 will run the wheels off any TYCO,Bachmann locos. Just noticed the KATO loco, high end machinery. I think typical retail on the Proto averages $125.00 each. Don't really know. Never bought any of those new.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

| The price stickers on the boxes range from 130-200 bucks on each item. The DCC control pack alone has a sticker of 195! I'll say he got his money's worth. The sad part is that he will probably never do anything with it. We've been planning for months to do a layout together but today he said that he doesn't want to because he doesn't want to empty his adult daughter's room to use it and he doesn't have any space. He has a den with a pool table and bar that he wants to mount shelved double rail around the top of the room...O scale on the inside, HO on the outside. It's so easily done. I want to shake him honestly because he doesn't even get excited about it, he just likes to look at it from time to time and think about the possibilities of a layout but he's content to let it collect dust. Maybe when I'm ready to buy pieces, he'll sell me some...in the meantime I'm going to keep pulling his coat tails in hopes of getting him to let himself be happy and excited. This is what hateful ex wives do to 60 year old men, they crush their hopes and dreams forever! I feel sad for him.
