These are near where I live. There are a couple more sections to the right of the picture, so there are more than enough for a flatcar load!

Drain pipes I think. Pretty cool though. Now all we need to see if they use a tractor or a crane to unload!

Walt - glad you appreciate the pic.

I have at least two skid flats that came with the culvert pipe:

  • Green Western Maryland I traded a friend for back in the day

  • Red Great Northern that came with my Silver Streak set

actually, if you zoom in on the actual photo, you can make out "TYCO" on the inside edge flange on the aqua/blue paint end.

TBA...

You know Nelson, I thought about that! But I didn't notice it until after I got out of the truck. Those pipes have been there for quite a while so I guess that piece of wood could give way any moment! Guess I got lucky!

UPDATE: I noticed today that the culvert pipes are gone. I didn't get to see what Tyco accessory was used to move them, however!

Speaking of Tyco culverts...I've been collecting the Scotch Tape hubs out of our office empty tape dispensers, because they looked like they'd make excellent culvert substitutes. They're actually a bit bigger than the Tyco culvert, but they have one interesting thing - the tyco culvert lip fits the inside diameter of the tape hub almost perfectly! Not sure what that portends, but I think they can be used as "joiners" or alternate loads. Or make culvert mushrooms out of them. Anyway, here's my BN Tyco gon with both loads.
