Anyone know just how common the snap together set cars are?
I bought one and didn't realize it was one until I actually looked it over a few weeks later. A guy busted up a set and I wish I'd bought more of the cars. It was in a light blue window box which was only used in a few sets.
The Krause guide says they've only seen two - a SAL boat flat and a NKP airplane flat; mine is the boat flat, but in GM&O. They say it was an experimental thing, but that could be conjecture.
For those not familiar with this, a plastic pin replaces the truck screw, and the trucks snap on similar to later Tyco - except the pins are on the car. The trucks are a little different, too, at least on this one they're a roller bearing style with a more squared sideframe.

These are Tyco Mantua cars? I've never seen or heard of them. Take some pictures, please!

I'm not sure I can get a picture to come out of something so small. If you're not paying attention, it just looks like the screw head is painted black, but on close inspection it's not a screw, but a split plastic pin that lets you snap the car together. The Krause Athearn guide has a little bit on them, page 46.

* LV seems to be having problems with his camera and his post. It happens. I wish everything I did was right. All you have to do is read my posts to see i am a professional stumbler. * Now LV keeps refering to a printed resource that I dont have, so i cant see it. He doesn't know when this was done, so I cant reasearch it. Last he has problems with his camera. * Anyone with a Greenberg athearn guide want to tackel this problem.

Look, if you have no idea what it is, you probably don't know how rare it is either. I didn't even know there was such a thing until I turned the car over, saw the pins, and looked it up in the book. They don't illustrate it either, but it's clearly the same thing.
These stupid digital cameras all have their own brain and focus on what they want to, why I can't get a cheap one with all manual settings is beyond me.

Try looking for the "macro" setting on your camera. Usually it's represented by an icon that looks like a flower.

lv doesn't your camera have a close up setting. also if there is enough light, of the right type, daylight not tunguten ( white not yellow ), it will make the photo clearer and shaper. Cameras without direct settings have a menue you can go to too make these setting changes for close up.
