Here is the final completed image of the Dockside I have been working on:

I used Testor's Silver (regular small bottle enamel) for the bell and the side rods, as the paint on the rods was in bad shape- very light sanding with 600 wet/dry garnet paper an then hand painting on those. The rear light works very nicely in reverse and the additional reflective tape inside the boiler above the front LED makes it brighter than it was.
I found I was out of #27 Kadee couplers, so I used regular shank length #5's and had to cut and fit coupler cover pieces and then use a 2-56 screw and nut to get the couplers attached. The rear coupler is a bit close, but functional. Not that this will be the star of the show on my yard layout or anything, but it will be operable.
As it appears, it resembles- only in livery- the Great Northern's 0-6-0T that was a real world locomotive- but it is much better than it was when I got it. The most disappointing thing is that there are other dockside steamers out there with more complex rod movements, that would have been more fun to own....

Ron, That's a really sharp looking loco you got there. Yep, some valve gear would really make that a beautiful piece. None the less, you got a clunker running and looking nice and it was fun to do.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
