reading a magazine about steam locos
Interesting history about the C P 0-6-6-0 articulated and why it was made.
Mentioned low steam because hoses were used instead of hard pipes

Fred, The 0-6-6-0 was first used in the USA in 1904! Was America's first Articulated steam locomotive known as a "Mallet" Pronounced as "Malley" as it was designed by a French engineer, named Anatole Mallet......The B&O carries this as a "first" as they called that first one "Old Maude" after the Donkey, cartoon of that time.
They for their time were HUGE, till years later and bigger engineering was made to improve them!
I've got a couple of them.......One will be a B&O Old Maude, and the other will be a 0-6-6-0 Western Maryland, but serve slightly different time frames!

Many have tried to, and failed, ya just can't repair stupid...
Do NOT try to Idiot-Proof anything!!!! God, will simply create a better......IDIOT!

according to the story in the magazine Canadian Pacific was getting along with out them and instead double or triple heading,
But markets changed as did population and they needed something to make it over the mountains at reasonable speeds to bring produce to west coast
