I was going to make the post about myself, but screw that I'm sure the rest of you got something

I'll start right off by calling out EM-1. Hey John......

Oh whats that?

You already have several of these?...........In multiple colors?

BAM!

I'm messing with you, I just know you love B&O the same as I do Yes these are the Spring Mills Depot models, and while I usually don't go for the uber detailed high priced cabooses. These are freaking awesome. Seriously impressive in person. They even run on our crappy track work with no issues. These came from my friend who owns the Rental Layout (see the layouts section). He also got me this little guy.

He got a great deal on them a few months ago and was able to pick up two for the price of one. So the one in front with the painted rods is his. We doubled headed them around the layout last night for awhile. They creep along quietly, little side rods spinning wildly. They have a very high amusement factor lol. Mine will get weathered eventually to set it apart from my friends.

My brother went all in and got me this. One of the new Walthers Trainline GP9M's in Pittsburgh & Ohio Central theme. I only live a few miles north of Pittsburgh where the real engine actually lives so I kind of passively wanted one of these. Trainline stuff is nice, solid runners but with a pretty minimal level of detail. Might add some stuff onto this engine down the road it would definitely be worth playing with.

He also got me a Highway Miniatures 15 ton locomotive. I have no clue when I'll get time to assemble that.

And my parents pulled a fast one even though they said they weren't going to get me anything train related. A MTH 40' boxcar in P&LE livery. They found it at a hobby shop when they were on vacation MONTHS ago and decided to hang on to it. Was unexpected but pretty cool.

I got really lucky this year. Ever since I got my house 3 years ago I really haven't asked for any train stuff I've always asked for something house related. I pretty much disappeared from this forum over the spring/summer due to house projects. Things should calm down this year and I really had nothing house related to ask for for xmas. So everyone asked me what I wanted and I just went on Walthers and picked a few things I liked (with instructions not to buy me everything I asked for because I really didn't want that much). Turns out my friend, brother, and parents all collaborated on picking my list apart. So yea for the first time in years I felt like a kid at xmas with all the train stuff rolling in. I hope you guys had good ones as well.

Feel free to show off what you got here!

And a parting shot. The dual 45 tonner combo and dual B&O wagontops sandwich my P&LE boxcar and the boxcar I made my friend for christmas

I'm not much for railroadiana, but when it can be used for practical purposes, I'm sold. My beloved knows that and so got me this brakeman's lantern...

...quite handy when tending my farm at night. My best friend gave me the first two volumes of the "Dream, Plan, Build" DVDs from Kalmbach, the folks who publish Model Railroader.

Chris, That Pittsburgh engine is sweet!

For this Christmas I got a CZ sleeper from my Dad - the P.R.R. Silver Rapids.

This completes my CZ that I started collecting several years ago. I've been putting a car or two on my Christmas list every year. My CZ has 8 cars altogether.

Yeah it dawned on me right after I made that post.....I will be investing in atleast 2 of those! (I know the red one with "Baltimore & Ohio" written out is one of them!) My favorite B&O paint on a caboose of any sort......

My wife decided this year that I'd bought enough train stuff MYSELF that I didn't need any from her.... but I did get a tin sign with a Santa Fe steam engine scene with an old pickup truck. That was my only Christmas train present. Oh, and half a wooden steam whistle. LOL! She found that later. I truly did buy quite a bit of train stuff this year at shows, flea markets, antique markets, etc. There's probably nothing she could surprise me with. Still, I don't really need to have a lot of presents anymore, really. I'm good with that. Glad some of you guys got some nice surprises.

Looks like Santa was great for a few of you guys this year...thats wonderful. I managed to"sneak" a few purcahses in before the years end..couple new locos...My best Xmas present
was the belly ache GOD gave me on the 7th of Dec..which sent me to the hospital for 3 1/2 days...and found that I had a non agressive cancer, which we caught early enough to cure
(80 to 95 % chance). To get a second chance is a great gift!! I can play with trains longer.

Ted,
I'm sorry to hear of this, BUT, glad in another way that its curable! That in itself for a second chance, is the best Christmas Gift anyone could get, and in the long run, you'll be able to paint caboose's longer, and play with trains much longer too!

Y'all got some nice stuff! I especially like that California Zephyr. Walthers?

Things were busy this year and I didn't really ask for anything (nor did I really need anything). I got an external hard drive and some cookies. I DID manage to get my hands on a Sega Dreamcast last week however, which is a nice addition to my OTHER collection Merry Christmas to me I guess

I got some nice stuff I might get time to post eventually... but for the past few days I've been occupado with the kiddos, who got some nice stuff of their own. Fortunately, Santa likes trains ;)

That's my youngest with her very first train set: a Lego City Special Edition. For the price Santa paid ($120 IIRC) I seriously CANNOT SUFFICIENTLY PRAISE how awesome this thing is. A remote powered engine; flat car with boom crane, load, control stand, and hi-rail work truck; operating dump gon; operating boxcar with load; and conveyor loader for the hopper... can you say incredible learning, play and imagination value? Durable too, and fun: as you can see she went right to work making a scene with her Hello Kitty legos, and her older sister's Harry Potter stuff. The Lego dudes have also driven my O-scale Belt Railway of Chicago MP15 :) (wish they were still on there when I thought to snap the photo, ha ha)

As it happens, the Lego trains are astoundingly close to O scale (but sadly about 1/16" out of gauge). But they make a good scene together. And this is just the start, I think... there's a lot more they can add to this even now...

...mwuhahaha, and so it begins...

caboose1: Best wishes. Hope it turns out well. I've had too many relatives deal with that stuff, so I know how it is.

DaCheez: nice collection. You need an Atari 2600--that's the only system I've ever owned, and I've got 3.

As for Christmas presents, I got some clothes and some money. It seems weird to me that someone would give their adult children money instead of gifts, but I can't complain. There's a train show tomorrow!

Edit: I just saw your post, Tony. I've got a girl who's into Harry Potter, Legos, and used to be into trains. This may be a way to get her back "on track."

After 25 years of receiving model locos, cars, structures, accessories, etc. as birthday and Christmes gifts and STILL not building a layout (what? 25 years and no layout?), I declared a moratorium on such gifts until I DO start building a layout and find out what I actually need. However, my in-laws ignored the moratorium and got these:

I did, however, ask for an airbrush, which my wife got for me:

caboose 1 - Yea that's a pretty good gift! Glad things are going better now for you.

Tony - I see what you did there...you better get them their own layout board haha.

Shaygetz - Is the lamp a replica or is it a real lamp? Still pretty neat I've always wondered about those.

Redwoods - Thanks! If I ever superdetail a diesel I think this one would be it. Compare the real thing to the model you can pick out several things easily that would be quick add-ons..
http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/oc/poc4032ars.jpg

John - Yea pretty sure the cabooses came from the same company that made the canstop cars. I'm still massively impressed by them. I have a I-17 caboose that is a resin kit which came with every detail part under the sun. Even if I finished it I don't know if it would stand up to these two. But I think it would be a nice addition! Funny story I got the I-17 on accident last year from the same friend who got me the cabooses because he thought it was a wagontop haha.

It's real...no doubt for a local branch line as the larger roads usually mark theirs. That it was made in Honeoye Falls, a town just down the street from my old Bible college, is especially neat as one of the students could have assembled it as well...the scent of Pontello's "Sweat and Swear" Buffalo wings still hangs over it.

CBQ77, John, and Chris,

Thanks for the comments :) I'm pretty fortunate that they indulge me so well, but they do enjoy our various outings and I try to make it fun, educational, and interesting for them, and not just about me. They've actually asked for their own layout board a handful of times, but there's some, uh, logistics challenges there. As in, getting 8 and 5 yo girls to keep their shared room free of "nuke it from orbit" declarations is hard enough without having something as finicky as a permanent train layout in there...

But the oldest is getting better. In fact, I forgot to mention another Christmas gift of sorts:

She's been enjoying some of my DCC-Sound locos for a bit (her favorite is the BLI SW7 that moos), so it seemed a no-brainer to let her demonstrate for an entry-level DCC system review. Fortunately the editors agreed, and it the newstands a few weeks ago, just in time for the holidays!

I just hope this doesn't backfire and turn her all diva on me...

Is an Atari worth something? I didn't realize that . The last one I bought was 4-5 years ago for 3 bucks. Maybe I'm sitting on a gold mine and don't know it.

Yep, just go look at eBay right now B77. Dacheez, if you lived in Nassua County, Florida, there is a awesome game store called Game Over! and they have select vintage game systems and accessories of the by gone days. Hell, even have a garuntee! I remember selling a Super Nintendo and a few games for $65! I'll look out for an Atari for you 'Cheez.

Thanks! The power is an old Atlas/Roco FP7 as WP 805 and an Athearn blue box F7 as freight unit 921. I plan to repaint a couple of Proto F3B units to replace the Athearn unit.

Just don't go the reality TV Honey Boo Boo route and she'll be fine... until she hits about 13, that is.
