Has anyone had any experience repowering a Lionel FA? I have one from the freedom train that I would like to repower. I've thought about using a Like Like Proto FA2 drive but they are too long.

I put a Walthers FA1 chassis under my old Hobbyline FA1
A Train Miniature FA1 chassis would also work.
An Athearn F7 Chassis may also fit with a little modification.

There was a piece of the pilot broken out.
I glued in a new piece and started sanding and filling.(and sanding and filling)
