Hey guys, I just found this listing on ebay while looking up the value of some athearn parts I need. I think you need to see this, but fast. Very fast. Like within the next hour fast.

It has a Athearn F7 Hi-FI belt drive. With a Penn line F7a undecorated body. You cant tell if the motor and shafts are there. You cant see any drive belts. a little over 20 minutes left under $10. toptrain

The color is due to regrind or just using up waste pellets.

The color could also be due to incomplete purging of the screw and barrel during a color change, or leftover material in the mold's hot runner system, if it has one. It could also be caused by old material stuck inside the barrel breaking loose and mixing with the material currently being used.

It was relisted, I will ask the seller if there are guts in it.
Do you think Penn Line was going to paint it, and maybe it was brought home from the factory? Did they used to sell unpainted shells like this? Perhaps it was given away as a reject, just like when I toured the Steinway factory and they gave us defective piano parts?
I would have thought there would be a demand for mix shells like this and clear shells in HO scale. Lionel makes O scale clear units, why not an HO one?

It could very well have left the factory in someone's lunchbox! When I worked in injection molding such "byproducts" of the molding process would occasionally "walk off."

I have come across a few Pennline shells that have the multi color plastic that were painted. Not only the F7 shell but some passenger car shells.

| The multi color shell most likely came from the Penn Line bankruptcy auction in 1963. These multi color Penn Line F7 shells are common and there are also multi color passenger car shells.

Yes, I have one of those Penn Line shells, just acquired for $2 at a show. No chassis. I was also watching that auction last week or so, I thought he had it listed as Dummy, no power. I intend to use my Penn Line engine shell as is, as I like the variated colors in it.

I thought it was too high for a Dummy non-powered engine anyway, it was like 15 to start? Plus shipping.
