I have become facinated with Tyco pre Red Box. There is not allot of info on the Little Trains and Blue Box stuff on the internet or on hoseeker or Tony Cook. Some posts here have been informative. I noticed that there seem to be no Tyco catalogs pre 1959. My understanding is that "Tyco" was first used around 1953 and the Litttle Trains and Blue Box were produced in the Mid to late 50's. Are there any catalogs showing the Little Trains and Blue Box? Can anyone elaborate on this era? By elaborate I mean where these items kit and rtr? Were they standard Mantua stuff? Were all the Mantua engines carried over? As always, thanks!

Thanks Ken - that was the first place I tried! They recently added the 1955 catalog. All engines have the TYCO roadname, pretty cool. No Little Trains info.

That old stuff is built like tanks but hard to find. Also anything zinc that old falls apart. How much is metal & how much is plastic?
Starting my Tyco and other favorites collection over again after 37 years.

Well in the last year I have learned a lot from this site and many helpful people. I just wanted to point out that this very site has the most complete set of early (1950's) catalogs I have seen anywhere! I mention this because I have been coming here for over 2 years and did not realize it. Nor have I seen anyone mention it. Go to the "Home" page and scroll down.
