A few years ago when buying on impulse and "because this one is on sale" was the main decision in my purchases, I decided to buy a GP locomotive. I still regret not going after the one I really fancied, because the one I bought is not my prototype, eras, interest, or even region of the country!
I had bought one locomotive, and with the money I had saved Dad from some odd jobs I got to pick out a matching pack of cars. Lo and behold, I had buyers remorse. Before I could say anything, I found more matching cars and a locomotive. That was all before I learned the power of the two letter word "NO".
I have 2 Proto 2000 GP30 of the same road number for Burlington Northern, standard DC, and are still in their original boxes. To boot there are 3 sets of 5 Bethgon Coalporters by Athearn, (15 cars in all), each one is a different road name for Burlington Northern, and in their correct set boxes. I ran them around my test track 6 hours max before putting them away.
Assuming they don't get spoiled somehow by this storm, would there be interest in them? I'd like to try and get $40 for each locomotive and $40 for each 5 cars. I certainly owe pictures but I don't want to move them out of their safe spot just yet. I know ya'll got bigger things to deal with right now (save your trains first!), but I figure I'll put it out there while I'm off from school for a while.
The only reason my dad was willing to throw money at me (or the trains) was a combination of going without Christmas and birthday gifts, plus the fact that this was all from Trainland. The same coalporters today sell for $70 per set, and Proto 2000 GP30's DC are backordered and $160 each.
I'm interested in getting the New York Atlantic GP38 (with flag) buy athearn, and/or the New York Atlantic MP15 that I should have gotten in the first place. I'd trade for those if you had them as they have meaning to me; several friends' relatives work for the NY&A, as afterall I am Long Islander.
Godspeed through the storm, stay safe, keep the trains dry!
