I need one screw for the "dummy" truck axle cover for a Ahm/Rivarossi GG-1. Or what size is it?

Justin, IF my memory serves me correctly, that would be a 3-48 machine thread screw, BUT I do believe it has a shoulder on it......
IF its not a 3-48, its the equivalent size screw in metric! Also with a shoulder!

It's definitely metric, 3mm was standard for most RR screws.
Correction: their standard screw size is 2.6mm. It's the hex head on their side rod screws that are 3mm.
