I have a custom painted BNSF Heritage II Athearn GP39-2. But you say Athearn never did a GP39. The custom builder took a GP38-2 and swapped over a GP40-2 dynamic hatch cover and its associated turbo charged exhaust. This would be an ex ATSF unit. Engine has working stratolite beacon, constant headlight in forward direction, this is a NON DCC lighting circuit and would have to be changed out if you went to dcc. Engine has air/mu hoses, cut levers, lift rings, seperate grabs, air condition on roof, brass horn and antenna platforms approiate to the late ATSF era when they still had the digital flashing beacons on the roof. This is a blue box unit with metal hand rails, front rails are custom due to anticlimber and snowplow. Engine runs super smooth and quiet. Would make an excellent yard engine as they still have the beacons due to remote control operation. I am looking for wild west stuff in trade, 4-6-0, D&RGW mantua/tyco passenger cars, old time freight cars, wild west building kits from tyco, kibri, bachmann ect. Would also be interested in a boxed Midnight Speical, Boxed Silver Streak with hand rails or Royal blue steamer. What do you have? Mike

Still NT's, I have Aspergers.

I have 3 old bachmann 1800s flat cars that were water cars but I like them better as flats, 3 old reefers, and a bobber caboose. i use them for my old time photo charters on my HO tourist railway! They are not for sale but if you want pictures they are on my website!

Mike,
That is a Athearn GP38-2. NOT a 39-2! The radiator fans are WAY to close together to be a GP39-2......Whoever custom paintewd it simply used a GP39-2 number on an Athearn GP38-2 shell!

Look at the profile of the rear radiator fans atop the long hood:

Granted the fellow that painted that, done a nice job tho!

Well, its about as close to a GP39 as you can get with an Athearn, if you bothered to read the whole post, I put its a GP38 shell with a turbo exhaust hatch added from a GP40. Only way to get a true GP39 is Altas train man line or brass. I dont think the EMD's wore this full heritage II paint scheme anyway. But it sure is purty! The constant light and working beacon really set it off. Mike
