Maybe it's just me, with my "frugal modeler's" sensitivity towards the costs of our hobby, but lately, as I look at EBay prices for things I might be interested in, I find that prices are going up at a fast clip. Either that, or sellers are demanding more money in response to the present economic conditions we are in- hoping that there is a buyer out there for every price point. I have been looking to get a 100 pack of Intermountain 33" metal wheels, to upgrade many older Athearn BBs I have been working on lately. Last spring- April- there was a vendor offering a 100 count box for $50.00. Lately, on EBay, I find the prices north of $60.00. I am always on the lookout for another Proto 1000 RDC, maybe not at that old Trainworld price of $20.00, but surely less than $40.00. Every time I look, the prices being asked on EBay are increasing; or a bid will start out reasonably and soon accelerate past $50.00. I know there are foolish sellers holding out for astronomical prices for HO scale items they "hope" will be purchased at ridiculously high prices, but it seems to be the case for other things as well.

They are sure going up. Even TYCO stuff that USED to be inexpensive is starting to approach too high prices.
Starting my Tyco and other favorites collection over again after 37 years. My still in progress list of inventory and wantlist: tyconut.com
