Hah! That's awesome.... very clever idea. I'm going to bet those are custom decals, as the color shading and detail in the fruit is far and away beyond what technology allowed for back in the day - I bet if you put the original strawberry one next to it, it's obvious. Still, very neat!

The only thing I would do is change the car numbers, and the color of the "JELL-O" text to match the fruit, like the boxes are.

But that's a fun set! Almost endless possibilities there :)

Well, they all started life as Tyco Jell-o (strawberry) hoppers, but they have had their paint freshened up and their graphics rejuvenated with some inkjet decals. If you happen across a box of Jell-o from the late 60's / early 70's (quite rare, as you can imagine), you can see what Tyco was aiming for. The blue on the box is more of a cyan, the red in the "Jell-o" text is more magenta, but on the whole, the hopper is that same box on wheels.

I had to ask myself whether Tyco would have varied the car numbers, and I was kind of thinking not - but who knows?

Glad you like them!

Oops... guess I stand corrected on the colored logo-type deal. The color-keyed ones are how I've always seen (or best remember) them, it never occurred to me that the early boxes were the same, duh. I guess that makes sense with the blue roof (ends) and all. Neat!

Still cool though. As for the numbers, every flavor has its own UPC code on the box, so I'd change the road numbers to the last half (minus the check digit) of the UPC for each flavor. If it were me ;)

Hi Tony. That's a great idea for numbering! I haven't put a clearcoat over them yet, so I can still easily do it. Thanks!
