It looks like the reserve was not met on this one. Can't believe the seller would put a higher price on this. SMH

well if i had to take a guess i'd say the reserve was $500. If i sold something i'd rather have a reserve so I can get what i'm asking. i love these huge lots! They always excite me but i've got an engine to win so gotta focus

Hyde, I know how that feels! I got hundreds to repair and fix, and customize so......I'm trying not to buy any more for awhile, just parts for the broken or missing part ones I want to complete!
Talk about having to focus..... OMG!

The thing that always frightens me about big lots like these is that you have to trust the seller's packing skills. What's to guarantee you won't receive a big box of plastic scrap? There's a Tyco Pacific in the lot which is like an anvil, and Rivarossi locos are plastic with a lot of fragile detail. Even a decent packing job could result in damage.

Very true Nelson! I actually got to the point that I wrap everything in layers of bubble wrap, taped to itself, NOT to the model and then tightly packed into a box and any open areas filled tightly with packing peanuts, till the box flaps are tight to close with a few good layers of packing tape. (I buy my packing supplies in bulk so........... including packing tape, I have 3 cases on hand as this is being typed!)
BUT your right! I had a friend when I moved from Pennsylvania, to New Hampshire send me the locomotives, I had left at my old club in my home town, and he just took the locomotives, put them side by side, and then put a layer or 2 of news paper, called it good and sent them on there way to me..... I got the box, the top 3/4ths of the box open air, and 3 locomotives beat to literal pieces! I was pissed, as all of them were Rivarossi Articulateds!

John, I know you pack securely, and I know I do, but too many don't. I've been very disappointed in some fellow model railroaders who should darn well know better. In fact, I've had a lot of eBay sellers with no knowledge of trains pack very well, unlike the two times I bought locos off of HO Yard Sale (now HO Interchange), both of which were total disasters.
Anybody I buy from now gets detailed packing instructions whether they like it or not.

I've been very fortunate to all my 2012 ebay finds that were packed securely! My Bgis Six Shifter was double wrapped in bubble wrap my Rare MDC 2-8-0 kit was sealed so no issues with that, engine house was good, Rivarossi 0-6-0T was good so all around good for me

| I'm kind of surprised the final bid wasn't higher... that averages out to less than $44 per steam loco even when shipping is figured in: not a bad score for any Rivarossi, let alone a Big Boy or Y6B! Even the Tyco pacific might bring that on a typical day. Considering the crazy bids the larger Riv's get individually, I'm surprised. For that high bid, this is the type of lot you could easily flip to get one or two items for free, but even a $600 reserve wouldn't be entirely "unreasonable" if the seller knows what he has (and would pack accordingly).

Tony your right, it wouldn't be a bad price even at $600.00 if you were planing to turn around atleast 2 maybe 3 of them! Just to gain some back depending where the end came in cost....
Nice lot tho! I had to post it!
