Sooooooo....
I've been swinging by the local flea market every Sunday in Bellmore NY, and this one fella is trying to sell of his collection of lower end HO stuff. He's got early Bachmann, trainset Life-Like, AHM, and even a Varney locomotive, along with many respective, heavily used cars, cabooses and broken off bits.
So is anyone looking for motors, donor engines or the like? There's nothing really mint or collector worthy, but he's charging barely anything (if at all) for stuff, and he sounds like he just wants to stop bringing it back week after week. Mr. Jude is just tired of the no-sellers.
If anyone is looking for stuff like a Tyco GP for motors, an AHM diesel for a geared axle, or a yard of cabooses for sinister kitbashing, let me know, 'cause I can get 'em for ya.
If you're on the island on Sundays, why not check it out. He's almost always there at the Bellmore Station with the rest of the vendors. Oh, and check out the RR Museum of Long Island this weekend; they're got the original Lionel Display Layout all the boomer's would remember from their childhoods.

Would it be possible to get photos of the lot next time you're there? It's kind of hard to know without seeing if there's something I need.

Ain't got any pictures, as of yet. I've got a decent memory though. I assure that there isn't anything special, unique or worth much more than you can throw it. But I figure that motors and trucks could be worth something. I'll get pictures next time I'm there.
Only steamer was a Pemco 0-4-0.
I recall that: Lifelike; diesels with standard front power truck/ rear wheel pickup. F7's, GP38's, F40. Some four wheel freight cars, and a single stramline coach. Bachmann; diesels with that standard rear power truck with front pickup. F7's, freight cars, several of the center-cab cabooses. Tyco/mantua' gp's painted yellow for a fictional line (like from a train set), f7's, an SD, two dozen non-noteworthy fright cars, and a few end coupla cabooses. My favorite was a green tank car with most of the decal worn off. Varney; a single f7 gear drive New Haven, maybe three each of well beaten hoppers, gondola (50') and boxcars (many doorless). Model power; 3 non-matching streamline passenger cars, a few cabooses, and a few freight cars, most notably the remains of a christmas set. Athearn; 2 or 3 Hi Fi f7's, two beaten passenger cars missing couplers.
There were trays (box lids) that seperated the stuff. 1 tray locomotives, 2 trays freight cars, 1 tray just cabooses. If there is any motor I could find ya, then great. Even if it's not in this lot, there this sale usually where I find my parts because of the shear size of the venture. There are usually 50 vendors selling various things (anvils to records, survival rations to guns, model trains to dolls, even a live dog). Just imagine the frequency of trains at garage sales... now put all the garage sales on a 1/8 mile parking lot.

Hmm, now that I dont' remember. I don't think there was any locomotives with advertisements, I believe that the Tycos were painted "Clementine" on the side. BIllboard cars, I don't believe there was.
Hate to sound like a shut-in, but I'm going to Scranton tomorrow with my siblings, so I'll be offline until after the sale on Sunday, so I'll bring my camera, ask lots of questions, and try to keep Mr. Jude from tossing the trains.

I might be interested in the Varney F7, depending on what drive it has.
Also the Bachmann EMD's (looking for a certain sideframe variant, they had a few different Blomberg toolings). There are some roadnames on the LifeLike GP38 I would be interested in as well. Pics would go a long way, but those are the things that tempt a "dibs" from me, LOL.

Gentlemen, I did not get to go to the sale because opportunity allowed me to tour the appalachian mountains, so I went with it.
Rode the Scranton train to Moscow, toured the viaducts north of the city, slept beside a friend's milking barn, hit the Roscoe NYO&W museum, looked for the Delaware and Northern, and finally road the Catskill Mountain Railroad. I think you'd all agree it was worth it.
I'll ask about the 3 athearns that should be left, I'll see if the varney is there (though I kind of like it too), and I think there are enough in parts to get at least 2 tyco power trucks running.
In the meantime, school is on the plate. There are few trains at Maritime.

I do like the engine house, which is in the photo above the very last photo on the bottom right. Would it be possible to find the dimensions in inches of it?

Engine house is most certainly in N scale, not HO.
Hey guys, I don't know how much Jude will ask for these, I've been getting stuff at no monetary cost due to odd jobs I run for Mr. Jude, including watching his table a half hour at a time, trying to get people to buy his stuff, and in identifying things (usually so somebody will want to buy it for parts). The F7 New Haven in the picture is in my possesion now; it's a Revell with all gear drive (not a Varney, surprised me when I opened it up today). I'd be up to trade the beaut, as she has all details on except for one horn, and it appears that it can run.
I don't have Jude's phone number (because I'm dumb like that), but if I can get to see him next weekend, I'll ask on anyone's behalf. I'm writing the list now, and I'll obviously see if he can keep the price low (or free). Now how do I get it from Long Island to you?
