I guess I'll fire up a new one with a sort of old one I got, or well built/designed and then plan to cast in the near future (probably around the beginning of the year)
Hey Everyone, I'm working on something, that I need some feed back on.... As you all know I'm an avid modeler, plus own my own shop in the hobby. In this, I've came to the point where I've been modeling the B&O all my time in the hobby, however, I lived on Sand Patch, in Meyersdale, PA. So that leads me to model my area, for the B&O, in this, theirs a few tunnels on this division. Making Sand Patch tunnel my favorite section. So having said this, I'm designing Sand Patch tunnel portals, both east an west portals, in HO. BUT I want to know if any other modelers would be interest in these? I'm going to be making the SA tunnel portals in sets for HO, an if their is an interest in this, in other scales, I will then scale them down an mass produce them too! I'm not taking about the original bore, I'm talking the one still used today that was completed in 1912. Anyone interested post here, or PM me on your thoughts! I'd be happy to hear what everyone has to say..... In this all I may do other tunnels as well! Like "Shoofly" tunnel etc.... (I think thats spelt right). I'm also considering doing Western Maryland tunnels as well, like "Big Savage" tunnel... BUT to do some of these other tunnels, I will need pics to allow as guide lines for scaling them. Any questions, feel free to ask! As for the Sand Patch tunnel, It so far is to scale as far as it gets! I actually went to Sand Patch tunnel (West portal, Meyersdale side) with 2 tape measures, one 100 foot an one 25 foot! And sat an scaled it down. Heres a few pictures, of the work, this is a "Master Copy" To make the mold from. All Tunnels made, will be done this same way!
Anyway....
Heres my Accessory from YTR:

I made this-------^....to look like this:

This is my "home land" stomping ground, where I grew up so.......
These WILL be made for sale by the end of the year.......As the picture of the model is a prototype!

Yeah Ben.....whats the distance for you to travel to see the tunnel?
As I have mentioned alot, I mold my own parts and I'm not the type guy to just mold specific types of detail parts, like Cannon & Co. Or Details west, I get into alittle of everything.....

John,
It is HO scale. I would put it at approx 50-60' in length as it looks to be about 3x as long as the engine on it in this pic:

I have one of these engines here and it is 20' feet in length (HO scale)

John,
That's an awesome portal, sand patch or not! I'd definitely be interested in a couple were I able to build the layout I want to right now... that's a few years away at best, but if you plan to stock a few I'll certainly be checking back! Great work!

Tony, Yep, I plan to have them up for sale around the beginning of the new Year, or there after as time permits as mold work at times is difficult and this one is a pretty big mold to be made to say the least!
I'm glad to hear that its a model thats not made and someone would want one! Thats fueling the fire under me to get the whole thing, up and going.
