When buying an SD24 Tyco engine be careful that it has it's front and rear pilots are complete. I have seen two recently that I was interested in at the auction site and each had the anti-climber missing on the front or rear. I just got an DR&G SD24 and didn't notice Until I opened it that one of the anti-climbers was bent at about 45 degrees. Alco Fan

Yup, I learned this as well with the C430. I didn't realize until I got it that a previous owner had cut the pilots off. It is always worth paying close attention to the auctions photos.

Are the SD24 pilots like the C636 pilots, where the lower piece under the coupler snaps in? If so, I may have some of these as spares. I can send you one if you can use it.

That's a nice offer NH but they are very different and are a molded-on part of the shell and based on auction photos must be easily broken off, because a lot of them are missing, and the sellers don't notice it. I have three SDs that have missing or damaged anti-climbers. I have thought about trying to rebuilding them to look close to original. Alco Fan
