Hi All,

Can you all help me ID the Mfr. of this unit and the years made? I'm thinking Athearn. It has the rubber band drive. This unit is one I got in the box of goodies my Fiance gave me last week.

Thanks
Mike

Romcat would be your expert, but that looks very much like the Athearn Hustler to me. Also sold by Lionel (made for them by Athearn) for a while, but I'm not sure that's a Lionel variant.

Athearn Hustler for sure - I've seen at least 7 different paint schemes.

Hi:

That appears to be assuming the # is correct a 1958 Athearn Hustler. If it's geared as oppoed to rubber band drive then it's likely a Lionel model. Best to ask the seller to pop the shell off and ID or flip over some had a Lionel Mfg. plate on the bottom.

Yep, that would be the Athearn Hustler
The vintage can be narrowed down by which chassis it has, The earlier versions had the motor attached to the frame by a single screw and the axle ends were pointed.
The later version had the motors mounted by rubber mounts
, had Idler pulleys and axles with blunt ends and bronze bushings in the side frames.

I notice a lot of people doing this. The pictures aren't embedded as graphics because you need to use lowercase file extensions. The upper case gets handled as an attachment. One day I'll fix that bug.
