This happened locally - All i can say is what an idiot - test driving a vehicle then crashing into a light rail passenger train with gates down -lights flashing -

We have a rail crossing at an angle near the LHS. You can hear the train coming but if you are off your game just a bit you'll have trouble deciding which direction it's coming from cause it is blocked your vision, and it may be moving quickly. The other crossing, about 100 yards west, was the site of a pedestrian/good samaritan fatality about 20 years ago. He was trying to push a stalled car off the tracks as a train approached and was struck.
