Of all the Tyco lights I have, this is the first "Speedway Base" pack that I have bought. These clip on to the sides of Tyco slot car track. I don't plan to use these, but they will make a nice display item...

Thank you, Brian...
I wonder how popular the were back in the day? If I'm correct Tyco never cataloged the Speedway base, long...indicating not many sold...

| WOW! Was there also a "non-speedway base" version of these lights? I've got at least two of these blister pack sets, but never even noticed if they had that clip thing on the bottom and were meant for race car track. Looks like this weekend I'll be digging stuff out to check.

Yes, Newhudson... The common Tyco light poles have a square base that would appear like a "concrete" foundation on a real pole. These have small loops on two sides for tiny nails to hold them to the layout. Below is a small pic of the common ones.
The good news is that Speedway based pole seem to be really rare! The bad news is that no one really seems to want'em....

Sadly, that can be said for most anything Tyco. My kids were just joking about how they're going to cash in with all of these old trains when I die.

I don't think it's that people don't want Tyco, I believe that many doesn't want to pay much for it. As thousands of tyco pieces sell weekly on Ebay... For the speedway clip on light poles, those are an item that I would think not many actually want... For me, I don't like the fact that they "clip on the track side"... But after thinking a little may be good for a bridge application..
