here we go again,do i keep and get the 2 other versions,or trade as its not my era,this it seems is the 2nd release 52ft version,as the latest is 58ft and dcc ready,ken

Thats a NICE unit! I remember seeing them in real life, when I lived in Pennsylvania, on Chessie System rail thats now CSX, and I think i seen the newer Sperry ones as well!

hi john,i like it,its very smooth running,my problem is do i keep it,to good to take it back to my era,as they had couplers when they were first on railroads,later removed to be re classified and get other 2 or trade it as this is out of my era ken

I think it IS a doodlebug, with a little extra roof detail. To me, looks like a typical gas-electric car, particularly the pilot. Here's a typical B&M gas-electric car:



The earliest Sperry vehicles were all converted from various surplus gas cars, so the model is authentic in that regard.

My recommendation would be to repaint into a regular railroad name, then it would be right for the 1920s - 1950s, depending on the railroad. I can't remember when the last B&M car ran, 1960s, I think. I remember seeing a picture of one painted white, running in a snowstorm, on the Claremont and Concord.

So, what's your period/railroad(s)?

my era is between 1880-1950s loco wise i start to loose interest after that ken

The other option would be to repaint to an earlier Sperry paint scheme. Sperry started around 1928 and was going full throttle in the 1930s. Here is a 1930s view from the Fallen Flags site:
