Hey all. I picked up an old 2-8-8-2 in pretty good shape yesterday at the local flea market. It needs a tender but that is an easy fix. The shell does seem a little warped and I don't know if I can fix it. I was wondering if someone had an extra shell that they are willing to part with. Buy, or Trade, your option.

Is the shell warped...or is the frame so infested with zinc pest warpage that it's pulling the shell into a pretzel?

Hi there,

I am almost certain it is warped. He had the tender available but it appeared that they thing was put in the fire and was warped well beyond repair. I will post a photo but it looks like the frame appears to be in good shape.

I've seen quite a few Rivarossi locos with heat damage over the years. I don't know if their styrene has a lower melting point than most and can distort from sunlight or attic storage, but it's not uncommon. In fact, I found this 2-10-2 with a melted tender the other day.

Ray,
I'll have to look, but I think I should have an extra Rivarossi Y6b shell laying around.....

If interested, PM me!
