One of my co-workers just came back from a trip to Kenya, helping install our new wireless modem products. I asked if he could get some photos of trains while over there, and he managed to find a Kenyan Railroad museum in Nariobi, got about 20 pics. Has a few scale model trains, maybe Gauge 1 size, on display there, too. Most of the equipment is 3-foot gauge British, early 1900's. Apparently Kenyans aren't too keen on the railroad, or Brits, so the museum is not in the best of shape. It's located in a man-eating lion area, they posted a sign on one of the cars, a man in 1900 was sleeping in the passenger car, and was dragged out by a lion and half-eaten. Lovely! Anyway, will get copies of the pics next week, and post them here.

Pictures as promised! 29 of them. Here we go....
Above - I'd really like to have one of these bicyclopedes!
Above - this seat was special-made so a US President ( Taft? Roosevelt? which was the hunter? ) could go hunting off the front of the engine. What a luxury! I'd think the steam engine would scare off game, but I guess not big game.

And this concludes the virtual tour of the Nairobi, Kenya train museum. Thank you for watching, hope you enjoyed the post. Photos courtesy of Dirk Snyder, NSGDatacom employee, lucky B who gets to travel to exotic places these days to do installs. He also likes trains, so it wasn't hard to get him to divert some attention in his free time to some railroadiana and history. Thanks, Dirk! Much appreciated!

Ok, yeah, it was Teddy who was riding "shotgun" on the cow (, er , elephant? ) catcher up front, then. Never saw or heard of this until my co-worker got a photo of the evidence.

when you think that those Beyer Garratt 4-8-2+2-8-4s were built before world war 1 to 1930 and are only being decommissioned as we talk about them, its amazing that with the low maintenance they were given that they lasted so long (approx 70/100 years)in full time use ken blue 0-4-0st is Hugh F Marriott 0-4-0ST 327 Vulcan Foundry ED1 2-6-2T blue loco is a North British Tribal Class 2-8-2
