Justin,
a place to build your own website would be:

www.webs.com

They offer free websites URL's. BUT you can pay a small price to have it all of your own Domain name!

Justin,

Making a website is very easy, it depends on what you want though. If you are looking for a specific URL like mine I had to pay for www.HOResouce.com or depending on your ISP you might have webspace threw them, but be careful as most ISP's have a bandwidth limit and a data limit. The cost is also a concern I pay $9.99 a year of my URL and then I pay for 1500 GB of webspace and unlimited bandwidth all together it comes out to about $120 a year. You can get cheaper hosting but I always like to have more and not get hit with fees for going over. There are also ways to make money off your site like threw adds and selling stuff off of it.

Now on to the physical part of making the site, be advised this can be very frustrating till you get passed the learning curve. Also it is very time consuming if you are not familiar with any sort of coding. There are many ways to do it but I suggest using somesort of publisher because it converts everything to HTML for you. I use Microsoft Publisher 2007 for mine, but there are a lot of free ones out there like Blue Griffon.

I have a low cost web site with http://www.mochahost.com/ for fairly low traffic http://rockbridgehunt.org on the "cheap" plan and pay about $12 per year for the name and about $24 per year for space and access. Beware small print with bait & switch. Being a computer dinosaur I write it all out long-hand, so I won't suggest any software help for E-Commerce.

Good luck!
