Someone mentioned this in my Traintools group so I thought I'd pass it on...

Nicely designed puller. Too bad there isn't a version large enough for steam loco drivers.

I must add I have both versions of "The Puller" from NWSL, deep version, and then a wide version and they work VERY well!
Anything bigger thats needed to be pulled or pressed, I'd suggest a small Arbor press! Which I have a small 30 ton version.

Hey John:
Nothing wrong with some alternatives, just as their is nothing wrong with the NWSL stuff.

Gareth, Absolutely! I was using my 30 ton arbor press for just about everything till I got the NWSL "The Pullers", thing is, I didn't buy them at the same time!
I also got "The Quarterer" as well, which works very well too!

I have both styles of NWSL puller too, plus one that looks like a mini version of an automotive gear puller that's good for things like pinions. The thing I don't like about the NWSL pullers is their tendency to bend, in fact I know some guys have replaced the aluminum frame with a steel one cut from square tubing.
Some gears -- like Rivarossi's steel worms -- are too tight for steady pressure and need a sharp rap with a punch and hammer to get the shaft moving.
