Ok, not to put a damper on anything, but I'm going to fire up the COTW topic again this week, with a special tanker - the fire-fighting tanker by Cox.

I know Microbusss has the "hots" for this one, I just got a great deal on one this week, so I expect some Benvy from this post. Wonder if I can replace the plastic water cannon with a real metal needle-type, so I can actually remotely via DCC shoot water out of it? Hmm... wouldn't THAT be fun at train shows?

Hi AMC_Gremlin_GT,
I have this car. It's one of only two Cox cars for me. I like the real water idea. I was at a train show yesterday and they had a fire truck shooting real water into a burning house on one of the layouts. It was nifty.
Thanks for sharing.

Bleh, no firefighting tanker for me. Just a regular old Varney tanker... except that I just built it as my very first kit I've finished! GATX 648, lettered "Carbide and Carbon Chemicals."It was a NIB kit from the 50's, so I'm probably the last person to build one of these. Somehow I think it looks really sharp, even though one side handrail was missing. I used three chopped-up kadee coupler-box shims to jury-rig the couplers so I could use a pair of Kadee #148 whisker spring, and it works great!
