While cleaning out my closet to reorganize it, I found some boxes of HO and Lionel train pieces I'd totally forgotten about. Anyway, this one came with a New Haven shell, but there's no attaching tabs on the chassis for it, so I assume it's the wrong shell. Interesting motor and chassis, never seen one like this. The truck sides are actually cast metal, not plastic, and the trucks swivel between fingers extending from the chassis. Another feature I haven't seen before. Wheels are extremely dirty, yet it runs almost silent, and very smooth for this style of motor. No ID on the bottom at all, has 4 large ribs in the metal tank. Any help appreciated here.

This motor is way batter than the Bachmann style like it, it has power and no noise. I'm impressed with it so far.

Jerry, it could be a Flieschmann or something. I've seen a few of these with this style. I bet it could be remotored with a CD-ROM motor.

Thanks, Catfordken, I have bookmarked that site now. There must be a piece of metal that slides across to lock the shell in place. Shouldn't be too hard to replicate. I THOUGHT that might be a possibility, but wasn't sure. Appreciate you finding that link for me! So I now have a Fleischmann 1340 Alco and now this 1343 F unit. Sweet.
