There's no justice, is there Ken?
Mine this week I just got, a Bachmann FT A unit, 4 screws, some couplers and a shim on a gear tower were all she needed...not a bad runner...

Coupla BL2's:

P2K (with incorrect truck sideframes) leading AHM. For as crude as old IHC model seems by itself, it's not too bad compared side by side; some of the P2K's details almost seem clunky on their own merits. Mehano / Tempo did a great job on the Rock Island paint scheme - which always seemed an awkward fit for this unit. The worst part of the AHM model is the awful, awful trucks.

My first sound loco. It is quite an amazing runner. Bachmann did a fantastic job on this loco.

This is the best built with all the detail small old engine I have. It runs great and very little noise.it does not have a head light but I will solve that when I get time.

LOTW / ID help needed : I bought this at an antique shop in NC Saturday, looks to be a Prairie 2-6-2, closest match I can find is an AT & SF version, #1073 found on Google search, but mine has horizontal slat cow catcher, can't find a single steam engine like that except the ancient John Bull. No HO id anywhere stamped on it, either. If anyone can give me a clue I'd appreciate it I looked through HOSeekers lit, but found nothing that matched, there's not many 2-6-2's made in HO that I see.

Got no tender with it, so will have to figure out what goes with it when it gets ID'd. Other details - most 2-6-2's seem to have no truck framework , these axles have points on them, like there's something that goes around them? Yes? No? Thought maybe it was missing framework, but after seeing some Prairies, they dont' seem to have frames on their front and rear axles, anyway. but the points are rather, er, "pointless" then, aren't they? Looks fresh inside, clean wiring, like it's never been run. Has an open-frame motor, but mounted totally horizontal, not at an angle. Brass worm gear, not plastic.

Well it has the horizontal cow catcher, but my boiler doesn't have the rectangular housing near the cab, mine has 3 steps on the side, not 2, also the sand dome and whistle spacings are different , etc. My cab also has 2 round windows on the front to the sides and top, this one has two close-spaced rectangular mini-windows. I'm pretty sure what I have is a Prairie, it's now trying to identify which one and whose. But thanks for finding that one for me. I missed it. EDIT - Ok, I went in and looked further, you posted the 9L prairie, there's a 6L and a 13L MDC as well, mine looks spot-ON for the 6L. YAY! I think that's it, Justin, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

You found it Jerry...it just looks like someone replaced the original wheelsets with some taken from a freight car ala Mantua pilots...
Alas...I have the perfect tender for it...waiting for a locomotive to follow...

careful with that application... a steam locomotive has a... tender behind!

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

* Well I am getting into this weeks LOTW also. I've been working on this locomotive for 2 day. Just getting it running. I got it Sunday at the New Hope train show. It came in a tray with a 0-6-0t, 4 small passenger cars, 1 large passenger car, 4 flat cars and other stuff. All Fleischmann. It is a decapod, 2-10-0. Fleischmann named the engine the "Black Mustang ". It is stock # 4175. It is a DB 50 class locomotive numbered 50-058. I had to fix a few things but it is a running locomotive now. The first cars behind it, came with it. Frank
