So I am curious to know if any of the members here live by branch lines and what industries they serve..
The branch by me still serves a cabinet company, a metal wire factory, three chemical plants a brewery and a plastics company.
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

One southwest of me serves a rebar mfg/scrap yard facility. Further north, The Anhuaser-Busch Brewery. Then in my county, a paper mill.

I grew up in the neighborhood adjacent to Taylor Yard (Los Angeles) which was the hub of the Southern Pacific Railroad up until the opening of their Colton Station. I also live pretty close to Alameda avenue which of course gave way to the Alameda Corridor which serves the BNSF, and Ugly...i mean Union Pacific. Besides that, we have the Metro Link and Amtrak passing on a daily basis in front of my house and are a mile away from light rail. A lot of the industries served by rail are gone now:( with the Lumber Yard being one of the last hold outs. Same for Alameda but ALOT of the track itself remains. This is my inspiration for my future layout.
If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right.

I do not know what railroad is going to support the company I work for but they are putting in a rail head for acid and possibly lead. We make automotive lead acid batteries. CSX or NS is my guess.
