Thanks to some fine folks here, I've a few leads on modern motors for my Phase I Bachmann GP40 (Great Northern). Thanks again!

What I need next to really improve that beast, is new trucks. The one on the left (black) in the following photo is the original Bachmann EMD Blomberg truck:

This truck was also used on the earlier F-unit and GP30. It was (in)famously "flat" in side relief and appearance... the detailing is decent enough, but... flat. Especially compared to the revised, later ones, exemplified by the silver example:

These newer trucks were installed on most Bachmann EMD's, from about the mid-to-late 1980's... and lasted throughout the 90's, perhaps even to today. Many of them may have talgo coupler pockets cast on, but these can be removed.

I would like a pair of these newer trucks, if anyone has some. Would prefer the Blomberg "B" frame shown (with dual brake cylinders and outboard shoes). Color does not matter but black would be preferred if I have the luxury of choice, ha. Would prefer separate pieces from a junker engine, but I will deal with the whole engine if you prefer... I just don't want to buy/scrap a pefectly good one; there are bound to be dozens of these things in our collective dead lines...! But if a good one is cheap enough, I'm sure I can use the other parts too.

I have indeed swapped these trucks onto the older mechanism, and it's a perfect fit and an easy swap. Trouble is the one I used is not really a "spare"!

Would appreciate any help... may also be able to trade odd parts and such if I have what you need.

Thanks!

Hi Tony,

If you haven't already got a pair of sideframes yet, I have a set, in black, off of a Conrail GP40 of rather recent manufacture. If you want the sideframes or the entire trucks, let me know.

Shoot me your address and they're yours. I never did get to return the favor for those Athearn sideframes you sent me a few years back.

Thanks guys... PMs sent. And you know, I often forget that parts sites exist, . Usually what I need isn't available and then I write the source off for future reference. But at $6 for a pair plus shipping... man, I've been spoiled finding entire locos for that! Still, that's a good option of last resort, plus it's nice to have a source for random / arcane stuff. Thanks again.
